David will also reveal what he’s learned from interviewing
hundreds of athletes, writing dozen of columns about cycling
and bouncing his body his body along roads, bike paths and
trails.
David Whiting is the
Front Page columnist at the
Orange County Register where he appears three days a
week.
He also writes a weekly outdoors column.
He is a two-time
Boston
marathoner and has climbed the highest mountains in
North and
South America. He recently placed 7th in “California’s
toughest marathon” winning his age group, and placed third
in his age group in the Orange Couty International Triathlon
in 2009.
He was “co-publisher” of a $16-million multi-media
Millennium
project, won
Columbia University’s Race and Ethnicity Award for
editing a series detailing
Vietnam’s prisons post-1975. and earned the National
Headliners’ Award for Public Service as well as Sigma Chi’s
Public Service Award for a series uncovering
preventable deaths at a women’s prison. He received his
master’s degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School
for Journalism and his under graduate degree from the
University of Michigan.
For nearly 10 years, he served on two charity organizations
- Campership fund and the Season of Caring campaign - and is
the father of twin. He lives with his family in
Mission Viejo.
