 DAVID WHITING

“Why cyclists are killing one another and how we can stop.”
David will also reveal what  he’s learned from interviewing hundreds of athletes, writing dozen of columns about cycling and bouncing his body his body along roads, bike paths and trails.
David Whiting is the Front Page columnist at the Orange County Register where he appears three days a week.

He also writes a weekly outdoors column.
He is a two-time Boston marathoner and has climbed the highest mountains in North and South America. He recently placed 7th in “California’s toughest marathon” winning his age group, and placed third in his age group in the Orange Couty International Triathlon in 2009.
He was “co-publisher” of a $16-million multi-media Millennium project, won Columbia University’s Race and Ethnicity Award for editing a series detailing Vietnam’s prisons post-1975. and earned the National Headliners’ Award for Public Service as well as Sigma Chi’s Public Service Award for a series uncovering preventable deaths at a women’s prison. He received his master’s degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School for Journalism  and his under graduate degree from the University of Michigan.
For nearly 10 years, he served on two charity organizations - Campership fund and the Season of Caring campaign - and is the father of twin. He lives with his family in Mission Viejo. He was born in Hong Kong where he got his first tattoo at age 13.

 
 

 

Plan to arrive at 6:30 pm for refreshments, snacks, and sodas/water and the presentation will start at 7:00 pm .

Turn East on Waterworks Way, turn left behind the building and park.  The entrance is at the back of the building.
